Are you new to therapy? De-Mystifying the Process
-
Choosing a therapist is important and involves finding someone you can trust and work with. Arranging an initial consultation is useful; it provides an opportunity to meet each other, explore how therapy might be helpful to you, get a feel on therapist’s approach and decide whether you feel you could work well together. There is no obligation to ongoing work at this stage and you can take your time to make a decision and see other therapists.

Together we would agree upon regular days and times to meet on either a fixed or open-ended basis. The establishment of regular sessions is important in order to create a safe container, facilitate and give momentum to the therapeutic process. Most people find that regular contact provides a sense of security and continuity.

We will explore themes that bring you to therapy or that open up in our conversation.
While talking, we might gently attend to what is happening within your body. In a session you may also be involved in meditation, visualisation, movement, drawing or exploring dreams. No prior experience in creative/art forms is needed.
Sessions last for 50 min.

As a result of a session, you might feel more grounded and more connected, less dissatisfied with life, more relaxed and more present. There might also be times when you could feel challenged by your experience. There is no right or wrong reaction to therapy. Sometimes people feel an instant shift; other times there are no immediate results. Thus, you might want to recognize that this is a space for genuine exploration; a space to bring yourself as you are and to attend with an attitude of curiosity and self-discovery.

The length of your therapy sessions are discussed with me and depend on what feels right for you. An average duration for therapy is one year, although some people desire to continue beyond this and some decide to stop sooner.
